Commencement of the 2021 Academic Year
We pray that you are safe and in the best of health.
As you are aware, we had intended that learners would return to
school on the 20th January 2021.
However given the seriousness with which the second wave of the
pandemic has unfolded requires the administration to reconsider this decision.
The main concerns that have clearly been documented are:
- The link between closure of schools and the reduction of the
surge as it has been shown in other countries
- The fact that the new variant has affected the adolescent groups who also happen to be the main cohort of secondary and high school learners
- The role of co-morbidities in the rise of deaths due to COVID 19
The safety of learners, parents and educators is of paramount consideration and so it has been decided to postpone the opening of this school.
Learners are not required to return on the 20th January 2021.
However our e-learning and online platforms will be activated in the coming days.
Each Grade will be separately communicated with on the way
You are also required to visit the school’s website regularly for further notifications.
It must be stressed that all school days lost for contact teaching will be made up during the year.
The school calendar will be amended accordingly and would in all probability extend into mid December.
Contact teaching will only resume once it has been established that it is safe to do so.
The Ministerial Advisory Committee will provide guidance in this regard. Sufficient prior notification will be given as to when learners will be required to return to school.
We humbly request your cooperation during this uncertain and
Please be assured that the administration remains absolutely
committed to delivering quality education and will assist learners in any way possible.
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the Board of Governors for having entrusted me to head this institution.
